Kith Haven Earns 2016 Silver National Quality Award

Flint-based center recognized by national program for commitment to quality care

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Aug. 16, 2016 – Ciena Healthcare, a leading manager and operator of skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers in Michigan, today announced that its Flint-based Kith Haven has earned the 2016 Silver – Achievement in Quality Award by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). The award is the second of three distinctions possible through the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award program, which recognizes providers nationwide that have demonstrated their commitment to improving quality of care for residents and patients in long-term and post-acute care centers and communities.

“Achieving the Silver Quality Award has been a goal at Kith Haven,” said Wayne Johnson, Administrator, Kith Haven. “Winning the award shows not only a commitment to quality, but also achievement of results in several key metrics. The entire staff at Kith Haven is honored and humbled to accept this award from such a prestigious organization as the American Health Care Association.”

Based on the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program challenges member providers to achieve performance excellence through three progressive levels—Bronze, Silver, and Gold. At the Silver level, members develop and demonstrate effective approaches that help improve performance and health care outcomes.

“All of us at Ciena Healthcare congratulate the entire team at Kith Haven for this tremendous accomplishment,” said Pete Brogger, regional director of operations, Ciena Healthcare. “This award reflects the dedication to compassionate, high quality care that Administrator Wayne Johnson and the staff provide daily to all of our short- and long-term residents and patients.”

“It takes incredible dedication and passion to successfully apply the demands of the criteria,” said Chair of the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board of Overseers Christine Boldt. “I applaud Kith Haven for reaching this level and for its commitment to always improve.”

As a recipient of this year’s award, Kith Haven can now advance in developing approaches that meet the criteria required for the Gold – Excellence in Quality Award. The awards will be presented to honorees on October 18 during AHCA/NCAL’s 67th Annual Convention & Expo in Nashville, Tennessee.
