Regency at Grand Blanc Receives Bronze National Quality Award

Regency at Grand Blanc Receives

Bronze National Quality Award

Grand Blanc-based center recognized by national program

for commitment to quality care

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., July 22, 2016 – Ciena Healthcare, a leading manager and operator of skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers in Michigan, today announced that its Grand Blanc-based Regency at Grand Blanc center has been recognized as a 2016 recipient of the Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award for its dedication to improving the lives of residents through quality care. The award is the first of three distinctions possible through the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program, which honors long term and post-acute care providers that have demonstrated their commitment to improving the quality of care for seniors and persons with disabilities.

“I am so thrilled that Regency at Grand Blanc has earned the AHCA Bronze Award, but it’s even more gratifying to know in my heart how this team of professionals lives and breathes quality care every single day,” said Vince Liaguno, administrator, Regency at Grand Blanc. “For our facility, this award helps validate our efforts and benchmark our progress on this caregiving journey.”

Implemented by AHCA/NCAL in 1996, the National Quality Award Program is centered on the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, which is the foundation of the metric-based AHCA/NCAL Quality Initiative. The program assists providers of long term and post-acute care services in achieving their performance goals.

“All of us at Ciena Healthcare are extremely proud of the entire Regency at Grand Blanc team for this tremendous accomplishment,” said Pete Brogger, regional director of operations, Ciena Healthcare.  “This award demonstrates the high quality of services provided, and is a testament to our Administrator Vince Liaguno and the dedicated staff who provide unparalleled compassion and care to our short- and long-term residents and patients every day throughout the year.”

The program has three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Providers begin the quality improvement process at the Bronze level, where they develop an organizational profile with fundamental performance elements such as vision and mission statements and an assessment of customers’ expectations.

Bronze applicants must also demonstrate their ability to implement a performance improvement system. Trained Examiners review each application to determine if the center has met the demands of the criteria. Recipients may now move forward in developing approaches and achieving performance levels that meet the criteria required for the Silver – Achievement in Quality Award.

“Regency at Grand Blanc has demonstrated its commitment to always improve the quality of care and quality of life for the residents and families they serve and this is what this award represents,” said the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board of Overseers Chair Christine Boldt. “I commend the staff at Regency at Grand Blanc for their hard work and dedication.”

The National Quality Award Program is sponsored by AHCA/NCAL Associate Business Members; My InnerView; National Research Corporation; PointRight; Team TSI Corporation; and First Quality.  Regency at Grand Blanc was one of 537 centers to receive the Bronze level award. The awards will be presented during ACHA/NCAL’s 67th Annual Convention and Exposition in Nashville, Tennessee, October 16 – 19, 2016.
