St. Anthony Healthcare Center’s Randa Hartlieb Receives

Health Care Association of Michigan’s “Hero of Healthcare” award

WARREN, Mich. – Sept. 30, 2015 – St. Anthony Healthcare Center, a Ciena Healthcare skilled nursing center in Warren, is home to this year’s Hero of Healthcare award recipient, Randa Hartlieb. Given by the Health Care Association of Michigan (HCAM), this award honors an individual who is an inspiration to the people they work with and the residents they serve.

A resident of Warren and owner of Randa’s Cutting Edge for the past 28 years, Hartlieb is the hairdresser for the center’s short- and long-term residents. While not a dietitian or medical professional, like the professional staff at St. Anthony, she provides an essential service to residents, sometimes even free of charge to residents who cannot afford to get their hair done. She has been known to stay late to ensure residents have a fresh haircut and wash and sets, and are feeling good for holidays. Her kindness extends beyond St. Anthony’s salon. This past Christmas, Hartlieb prepared and served a homemade meal for one of the residents who usually spends the holiday alone, and joined her for the meal prior to attending her own family Christmas.

“The St. Anthony team is proud to work side-by-side with such a wonderful and dedicated individual,” said Erin Ledington, administrator, St. Anthony Healthcare Center. “Randa doesn’t just cut hair. She provides our residents’ comfort and compassion when they need it most. She goes the extra mile each to soothe their souls and lift their spirits, as well as looking their best.”

Hartlieb was recognized at an awards luncheon Sept. 15 during HCAM’s annual convention, held this year in Detroit.

“I am honored to receive this award and recognition,” said Hartlieb. “I truly enjoy spending time with the residents at St. Anthony. I give from the heart, that’s what I do.”
