Qualicare Nursing Home, a Ciena Healthcare skilled nursing center in Detroit, has been awarded the Calvin H. Monfils Facility of Excellence Award by the Health Care Association of Michigan (HCAM).  This award is the highest honor for a facility given by the Health Care Association of Michigan.  The award is based on an arduous judging process incorporating submissions from approximately 300 facilities throughout Michigan, as well as an on site visit.

Qualicare Nursing Home will be recognized at an awards luncheon in September at HCAM’s annual convention, held this year in Grand Rapids.

“The Qualicare team is dedicated, compassionate and truly loves taking care of our residents,” said Kamran Chaudry, administrator, Qualicare Nursing Home.  “It is wonderful to receive this honor and recognition for the hard work and exceptional care our staff provides day in and day out.”

Skilled nursing facilities nominated for the award are judged in four categories:  best practices, facility operations, internal and external relationships and an on-site evaluation.  Criteria include annual licensure and certification inspection reports, complaint investigation reports, innovative resident care services, staff development, relationships with families of residents and employees, continuum of care, quality of life and care, food services and environmental services.  Qualicare Nursing Home achieved the highest combined ranking for all categories, in an evaluation process that began early this year.

“All of us at Ciena Healthcare are extremely proud of Kamran and his team,” said Mohammad Qazi, president, Ciena Healthcare.  “This is a tremendous honor for Qualicare Nursing Home and a testament to the center’s dedication to the health and well being of its residents.”

The Health Care Association of Michigan (HCAM) is the premier professional association representing nursing and rehabilitation communities.  HCAM represents approximately 300 facilities including for and not for profit, county medical care and hospital-based providers.  For more information, please visit www.hcam.org.
